Ok. So I'm pulling the 5.3L out of my 2000 Silverado Z71 ext cab. And Swapping in an LQ4 that's been upgraded a bit.
Im not 100% Sure of the year block, but I know it's a gen3. I pulled it from an 04 Yukon Denali, but after getting it home, and apart, it's clearly been swapped in that truck before. So the year is unknown. I know the LS 6.0s had some different crank to flywheel spacer lengths. I'm wondering if you know what the 2000 5.3l would be and how I should measure this one to see if I need to remove the spacer that's currently installed, or if I can run it as is. I'd like to remove the spacer before installing the rear cover, and like to find if it fits before just trying to dump it in the truck. Also, the 5.3l isn't out yet. I want to button this block up before making a new mess pulling the 5.3. Question 2.. Do you know what the specs are for LS Main Bearing clearance. Mine plastigauges at 0.0015... I can't seem to find a decent spec for this... My old SBC knowledge would tell me for a 2.5" Main, it should be 0.0025... Any wisdom?
Thanks
Unfortunately, I'm very limited on my gen 3 and earlier experience. I'm actually unaware of any spacer for the flywheel. I do know the blocks will be the same dimension wise. With that in mind have them side by side and compare. Measure how far the ring gear is from block on the one you pull out. Then swap flywheel and see if it's different. Just make sure you do what it takes to make that measurement the same in what you put in.
