2013 GMC Yukon, 220k miles, 5.3L LC9 engine with AFM has a stuck lifter, took the head off and got the lifter out. Stuck lifter bearing spins freely but visually there is wear on it. Photo shows marks on stuck lifter (left) vs good lifter (right). Visual marks on bad lifter bearing match damage on only the peak of that camshaft lobe (but hard to take a photo of the cam in place). Doesn't look as bad as other images I see around the internet. Should the camshaft be replaced?
Also I bought the tool and VLOM plug, but I could just not get it loose. Had to go the traditional path to get it out.
If the camshaft has any damage it needs to be replaced. This is because once it gets damaged creates a cascading effect were it continues to destroy itself along with the lifter roller.
