I pulled some injectors from a L59 flex fuel 5.3l from a 2006 Suburban. When I got home and was cleaning them, I realized they are a bit taller than my original injectors.
These are part number 12580426.
On the TOP of the injector, above the upper oring, most lifters have a little "metal shelf" or lip that I'm assuming is used to help keep the oring in place, however these do NOT have that metal lip, but instead have a really small groove, and a small plastic bit that snaps into it, that acts like the metal lip on others. I damaged the plastic ring on this set when changing the tiny filters.
I don't know the name of this ring to buy new ones.
Can someone PLEASE help me figure out the name of this little plastic ring?
Good deal, I did similar but targeted tq with mine. 04 Tahoe but I used smaller heads with targeted port work, cam and 4in stroke with flat tops. So it's a 5.8 l instead of the 5.3 now. I trimmed heads to get it at 10.8:1 so can still just barely run 87 oct fuel. I built it for towing and it works perfectly. Made 345 lb ft of tq from 3700-4700rpm and still pulled off 300lb ft at 2500rpm and this is at the rear tire with stock 04 Tahoe driveline and big meaty tnew tires. So it's freaking perfect for my use case. Feels almost as good as the newer Ecoboost trucks. Still gets 15.5-17mpg cruising at 70mph in most places too yet. When engine was stock I was luck to get 15mpg. My stock flex fuel injectors don't have enough room for running eth in it though.
Your going to need connection adapters and a tune for that btw. Anyway, I'm not sure what those are called but I might have injectors laying around with them on there. Want me to look around and see if I can pop one off without damage? I suspect they are brittle though. Any reason you are swapping injectors? Looking for more flow maybe? Would decap of your oe ones be a good option for you?
