Going to be trying the fix here this week and was wondering if you could just do the VLOM plug only with the tune. Or just the tune only. Didn’t know if you could skip cutting the gaskets.

Just wanted to give a follow up to my experience.
For starters, I did get the lifter to un-stick! For me, the trick was to hit the tool, rotate the motor and hit again. On about the third rotation, the lifter released. For the rest, I had the LT1swap computer tune and installed just the VLOM plug by removing the screen. Has been trouble free and reads good oil pressure for about 500 miles so far! Thanks again for your YouTube post and updates on this website!
Then I would cut the gasket since you will have the VLOM off and it's potentially an active issue.
You can skip gasket cutting if you're just doing it as a preventative thing. For example, not pulling the VLOM off for any reason just trying to limit risk of failure.
